Not available onlineYou can only get my Civilized Divorce book by US Mail. You can't download it from a web site, I won't email it to you, and you can't come by my office to pick it up. The information is just too valuable for me to run the risk of an electronic version being passed around on the internet. And, it's a way of making sure that you live or work close enough to my office that there's a shot that you could hire me for your divorce.
The booklet you sent out was really helpful and took me step for step. Carolyn Lyons, Allen
What is the Divorce Guidebook?
It's helpful hints to help you talk with a lawyer to make sure your divorce papers really reflect your situation, and to help you know what all your options are.
The Divorce Book Is Not:
The Civilized Divorce Guidebook is not a do-it-yourself guide, or a set of forms.
The divorce book is not to teach you how to get divorced without a lawyer. The cheapest way to get a haircut is to buy the clippers from WalMart and do it yourself. Most folks choose to use a trained professional. Divorces are similar.
The divorce book doesn't teach you how to pull dirty tricks on your spouse, evade child support, or bury your spouse in a blizzard of "discovery" paperwork.
Frequently asked questions answered in the Divorce Guidebook
There are a number of questions people ask me frequently. How long will this take? Can one attorney represent both sides? What is collaborative divorce, and is it right for me? Will a constable or process server will show up at the spouse’s workplace and serve him or her with papers in front of friends and coworkers; or, worse yet, at home in front of family? Will I have to go to court?I’ve answered all these questions and many more in the free Civilized DivorceSM Guidebook, which you can request with one of the links at the bottom of this page.
Free Divorce Book Offer
OK, here’s the offer. I’ve written a guidebook to help you work through all of the decisions that need to be made to give you the divorce that fits your needs. With it, you can get a custom-tailored divorce; not something you bought off the rack, doesn’t really fit, but you wear anyway. There are a lot of questions that need to be answered in every divorce decree, such as, "does weekend possession of the children begin as soon as school adjourns, or not until 6:00 p.m.?" or "should the person paying life child support have to provide life insurance to support the child if he or she dies before the child turns 18?" All too often, an attorney makes assumptions and guesses about what the parties want. But this divorce book lays out all the options for you and your spouse to consider and decide. If you live in Collin County, Dallas County, or Denton County (or any other county that touches Collin County), I’ll give you the divorce book. If you don’t live in that area, I’ll sell it to you. You may make an appointment to see me, and get your free divorce book at that time. Or you may simply fill out this form and I'll mail one to you.
